About Sky
I began tutoring elementary school students on and off around 5 years ago, since 2015 I tutor primarily in math comprehension with ages and levels ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. Currently, I work as a math tutor for middle school students with the DOE. The most inspiring part of the job is seeing the spark in a persons eyes when they finally understand a concept.

My teaching method is characterized by one word, individualized. With perspective from both sides, my own learning experiences as well as tutoring experiences, I know that not every child learns the same. For some, sitting in a conventional classroom is enough and for others it simply is not.
Math is a straightforward subject compared to the humanities- there are rules and concrete answers. So, when someone is struggling with math it's usually because the student either needs the concepts to be explained differently or needs a different mode of instruction than they are receiving.
Knowing this I make sure to come into tutoring sessions with a curiosity and an open mind towards my students. hen teaching and make sure to get a grasp on my students learning style before anything.

Details
Cancellation/ Reschedule policy: If you know you must cancel or reschedule an appointment please try to let me know as soon in advance as you do. At minimum, I need a heads up at least 24 hours in advance to our appointment. But, sometimes life just comes at you! So, if you must *cancel* on the same day as our appointment please know I must charge a $5 fee. Rescheduling on the same day results in a $1 fee.
