I am a Computer Engineer graduated from the University of Mumbai and during my academic life, I felt that most of my fellow classmates just follow the pre-defined steps to solve any problem. This type of analogy does not allow for any outside the box critical thinking. One must truly understand the core ideas and concepts behind any topic before solving problems on them

I would start teaching the topics from the ground up with the basics and show, how complex topics are built on top from these basic building blocks.
I would also teach students on what one must think in their mind at each step while solving problems. Also teaching them shortcuts and tricks to memorise any equations ir formulae.
