About Ananya
I am a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh and my dissertation focused on developing tools for further education in Mathematics, because I feel very strongly about making educational support widely available. This passion also means that each student I take on receives tailored assistance, and I aim to make sessions enjoyable and rewarding.
My particular academic interests include number theory, security engineering, and operating systems, and I have internship experience in various areas of technology with a focus on cybersecurity at companies such as IBM and Google.
I have experience in various technologies and programming languages such as Python, C/C++, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript to name a few and have followed Agile methodologies in most software development projects so far. For one such project, I managed a team of 9 technology students and our development was awarded a merit at honours-level courses.

Spending the initial meetings understanding individual strengths and weaknesses is vital for me to tailor lesson plans - though these are still flexible. This is not only to highlight areas to focus on but to also give me an idea as to what learning techniques may work better than others. I also find it useful to recap all previous material briefly every few weeks to reinforce learning or note areas of retention issues.
Whilst students are expected to study set syllabi for different qualifications, there is very little support to actually deliver these materials in a variety of forms. In my experience, this is the main friction point when trying to motivate learning beyond the comfort zone and this is where I often focus significantly.
After agreeing on expected learning outcomes, my lesson plans and timelines are developed by working backwards so that from any outer deadline, time is first allotted for past paper practice, full syllabus revision, and so on to assess the rate at which progress must be made.
