About Melonie
I have been teaching Math or Maths for 12 years and enjoy helping students learn this amazing subject. I am currently a high school teacher where I teach a class called Success 101, where I help students learn an array of topics to include budgeting, growth mindset, resume building and other transitional skills.
My goal is to help students learn Math in a way that makes sense to him or her. There is always more than one way to learn a Math concept and it's important that teachers convey to students that ANYONE can learn Math.

I believe most students struggle with Math because of lack of hands-on experience. Anyone can be successful in learning Math provided they have a concrete understanding before learning the abstract concepts.
I begin my lesson with a real-world connection to motivate students to want to learn the material. Once students understand the "why?" of learning the concept, I pick the best strategy to help students learn the "how?"
I understand that learning certain Math concepts can be challenging for some students, so I come equipped with many different strategies for different types of learners.
My lessons are designed primarily for grades 6 though 9 with my expertise in:
-Rational Numbers to included (fractions and integer operations)
- Proportional Reasoning (Percents,equivalent ratios)
- Geometry
-Algebraic Expressions and Equations
- Statistics and Probability
