About Youssef

I'm a fourth-year electromechanical engineering major. In my 4 years of studies, I have taken a lot of advanced, college-level math courses in various fields. I took 3 different calculus courses, a linear algebra course and a differential equations course. This has helped me understand the fundamental, underlying concepts behind mathematics and develop the needed intuition for problem solving. Moreover, my previous experience teaching has helped me understand the problems facing students most, and how to overcome them. Me being a student myself, makes me able to relate to the problems you face and how to get around them.

About the lesson

I have been teaching online for over two years now and I have developed my own approach for teaching. Typically, before explaining an abstract math topic, I like to introduce the need for it and draw analogies from the real world around us. After that, I usually go about explaining the topic slowly, and encouraging students to use their logic and reasoning to reach a perfect solid understanding of the topic. After that, I like to go over examples to have the student practice it themselves. Throughout the lesson, I do the note-taking. This helps the student forget about taking notes and focus on understanding and applying the concepts they learned. Moreover, I adopt different paces/learning strategies for different students according to their needs and targets.

Youssef is a native speaker of both the Arabic Egyptian dialect, and can speak and understand English at the level of a native speaker as well. I appreciate that he is always available to answer questions between lessons. Moreover, he has adapted lessons according to my personal needs and goals. He is a nonprofessional teacher so I would like him to increase his preparation for lessons, but as far as a community tutor goes he has been quite helpful.
