About Mohamed
As a tutor of three years I have been exposed to a variety of students of all ages backgrounds and abilities. Having the ability to teach both Maths and Biology has allowed me to appreciate the types of learners there are whether analytical which is useful for maths or observational and inquisitive for Biology. This has allowed me to view the development students have from entering GCSE to leaving their Alevel studies.
Through my extensive experience I have collated a wide variety of resources from questions past papers and interactive learning skills. This has helped me refine my teaching style based on the type of student I have.
Teaching can differ depending on the student and with the development in technology I have appreciated it’s role in tutoring also. Therefore as a tutor I engage my students to use online resources and gain access to useful material as a means of improving understanding and setting homework. Furthermore I have noticed that a teaching style that has always helped is the use of past questions and spaced repetition where a student creates a timetable where they go over topics and test their understanding several times through the course of the year.
My ethos as a tutor is that all students have the ability to achieve and attain good grades but the one factor that differentiates good students from students who go on to Achieve offers from their desired universities is drive and perseverance. I believe that these qualities can also be gained through
the guidance of an experienced enthusiastic tutor.
As a tutor of both GCSE and A-Level students and through my own experience applying to medicine and biomedical science I have realised the importance of guidance and continued support for both levels and I pride myself on providing extra support with applications for university and the required skills and experiences needed with several of my students achieving their goals of studying medicine and other subjects.
To conclude I believe that the role of a tutor is to provide the additional support and teaching a student requires to achieve the best that they can. However the need for the desire to achieve has to be mutual between student and tutor.
