I am an experienced tutor with double majors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I have worked in the Information Technology field for over 8 years, including at IBM, SAS, and Duke University.

As a tutor, my passion is supporting students in their academic coursework. I particularly take pride in helping failing students “get it”. I believe that when students see a subject’s intrinsic worth, its relevance to their lives, and their own progress, they will be intrinsically motivated to succeed. To that end, I seek to guide students in discovering their abilities, rather than spoon-feeding material to them. I strive to show students the internal logic and meaning behind every math and physics equation and concept. If this means drawing pies to illustrate fractions or pushing doors at various distances from the hinges to illustrate torque, I will do so! I want students to leave my sessions with a sense of wonder at the world around them and newfound confidence in their ability to investigate that world. I truly care about my students and seek to be a kind, supportive presence in everything I do.
