About Fred
Hi, I’m Fred, a Maths undergraduate with three years of tutoring experience. I've helped students improve their grades and confidence in both the foundation and higher — some moving from foundation to the higher papers, some going from a 5→7 and others reaching that next level from 7s to 9s.
I achieved mostly Grade 9s at GCSE, including Maths and Further Maths. I then went on to get As in Maths, Economics, and Art at A-level. I’ve just been through these exams, so I know what works and how to explain tricky topics in a way that is easy to understand.
I help students break questions down into clear, manageable steps, making even the hardest problems feel straightforward. Parents often find that working with a younger tutor keeps students engaged — lessons feel more like learning with a mentor than sitting in another classroom.

We focus on visualization and understanding what’s happening, using examples to show why methods work. Whether that’s breaking down a calculation, making algebra rules clear in practice, or visualizing line equations on a graph, the goal is for students to gain real and lasting understanding rather than just memorizing methods.
My goal is to make tutoring affordable, effective, and enjoyable. I break tricky topics down into simple, manageable steps, focusing on understanding why things work, not just memorising. I do this mainly through visual learning.
I offer:
• Online lessons (via Zoom, using my graphics tablet like a digital whiteboard)

Fred was an amazing tutor for my son. My son was really struggling and was due to take the GCSE foundation paper. However after 6 months of Fred’s help not only did he sit the higher paper, he got a 6 when he’d been predicted a 4. Fred is a very honest and hardworking tutor. He helped me with GCSE maths for about 8 months and improved my marks in practice papers by about 30 marks.
