Hello and welcome. My name is Shelayah Robinson, I'm a cum laude Computer Science graduate with a concentration in Software Engineering from Southern New Hampshire University. One of my proudest academic achievements is being able to achieve President’s List 2 years in a row! I have recently completed my 120 hour TEFL/TESOL Master Certification, which means I’m qualified to help teach others English.

My five years of tutoring experience has helped shape how I best assist my students in their learning. I like to make the student feel engaged when it comes to learning topics, and I believe that’s the most important tip. I enjoy getting to know my students, as well as providing useful techniques that will help prepare my students for whatever their academic goals may be.

I first started tutoring as a hobby, helping high school students, to even some of my college peers. I didn’t realize until after I graduated college that this was one of my strongest passions.

I have my Bachelor’s in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering. And I also have my 120 hour TEFL/TESOL Master Certification.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with new students, is first understanding where my students are struggling. From there, I demonstrate the topic they are stuggling with through simple steps and an example problem. From there, I give students practice problems that will help train them in the topic.

For students in ESL, I like to have a lesson plan created before meeting with the student. For example if they are struggling in pronunciation on certain types of words, I would create a lesson based of off that, and some tips to practice for our next meeting. And then building off of the lesson to help establish a foundation.

For math: my prices are broken down into two different ranges, lower level math, mid-level math, & higher level math:

Example of lower level math would be: grade k-8 math, these prices are $25/hr

Example of mid-level math: HS math, $27/hr

Example of higher level math: college level classes: $35/hr

For ESL Lessons:

Beginners Learners: $25/hr

Intermediate & Advanced Learners: $27/hr
