About James
Teaching is a highly enjoyable experience, that not only spreads information and knowledge but also allows new knowledge to be created.
I am a Degreed Engineer from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and I have had experience with one-on-one and group teaching for about 3 years now.
I have mastered Mathematics up to Advanced Calculus, and specialize in Manufacturing and Desing Optimization. Don't let that make you think that's all I do though! For math and basic Engineering, I am ready, set, and able to help!
Currently, I work in contract manufacturing research, where I am developing new manufacturing technologies. I have always respected the community aspect of the Maker Movement, as it is what got me started in my career path. By that, I love to share what I have learned with others, to pass this gift forwards.
I got started tutoring at RPI, where I taught people how to use the equipment in the campus MakerSpace (which I started!). Soon, I was helping others with other work too, mathematics, basic engineering, and all levels of manufacturing. As an active member of SWE (Society of Women Engineers), I helped organize events and activity days for middle and high schoolers to come to campus for learning and activity days. These are the accomplishments I am most proud of.
I have an Engineering Degree from RPI, and I have a solid grasp of the mathematics that I have been exposed to.

The first thing is to evaluate where the student is in their studies, what they need help with, understanding learning styles and difficulties, and adapting a dynamic study plan for that particular student.
I have worked with students from as low as Middle School up through the collegiate level.
Talk with your prospective tutor. If their teaching style does not feel right, it probably isn't. Find what works for you.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
There is no such thing as a dumb or stupid question. I will answer any question posed to me as honestly and professionally as I can. We all have off days where we forget how to math, or English, or grammar; there is absolutely no shame in asking for help. That is what we are here for!
