About Justin
Hello future students! My name is Justin Webster and from 2015 until 2021, I was a Substitute Teacher for Chicago Public Schools. Prior to that I was an Afterschool Counselor for the YMCA.
I've always loved working with children and when I worked for the YMCA, I just decided to give being a substitute teacher a try and loved it.
While I have a B.A. in Business Administration with a minor in Economics, since college I have been an after school and summer counselor for the YMCA. In 2016, I became a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools until May 2021.

My process for tutoring is to identify the academic area of struggle, learn how my student receives information, and devise a plan that will help my student absorb and understand the subject. I believe my biggest strength lies in my ability to break subjects down and make them understandable using the hobbies of the student. Outside of being a substitute teacher, this is a skill I exercised when I helped instruct martial arts when my sensei couldn't. I eventually because his junior instructor from 2016-2020.
I have worked with students from pre-k to high school, from general population to special education.
A recent memory I'm fond of is getting to have a memory of my father celebrating my birthday with before he passed away. My father was always in my life and we had a relationship, but it was from a distance. Since I never had a strong memory of celebrating my birthday with me, he made sure to visit me for a few days for my 28th birthday. He later made his transition in September, 2021.

Some questions I think students should think through before talking to teachers are:
1. What is being asked of me?
2. Is there a formula I should be using? If so, what components am I missing?
3. Is the a factor, like time, speed or, wieght, that I need to convert?
