About Esther
Children have different learning styles and capabilities. My philosophy is that everychild has a potential and with proper nurturing and training each child can learn and reach his/her potential.
I have been teaching for over 40 years, and have always tutored children after school.
I have a PhD, and a M.Ed in Special Education with Concentration on Visual Impairments.

Spending time with the children and seeing the progress they make gives me satisfaction. I enjoy watching how they quickly become self-confident, and show it in the way they carry themselves, and even show it in their handwriting.
I have a unique way of reaching people in general, and I always like to share my knowlege and experiences. I am very compassionate about it.

I have worked with a wide range of students, including students with disabilities. I have worked with highly gifted and talented students who need challenge, average type students, and students who require extra practice in order to master skills.
I have taught both reading and math to students with blindness and visual impairments, from preschool through grade 12. I teach braille as well.
Being able to read and understand what is required in a question is important. Especially in math, I advise the students to read the questions carefully, write down what they are required to find, and then devise a step by step strategy for solving the problem.

Perfect! My son recently turned 4 and I can see a vast improvement with his reading abilities. I owe this progression to Dr. Riverson. About a year and half ago I found Dr. Riverson on this website. Upon reaching out to her we set up a weekly plan to meet at the library to begin the reading tutorial sessions for my son. The first few sessions I sat down with Dr. Riverson to ensure that my son was comfortable and was at least trying to pay attention. In the beginning my son's attention span was limited (he only was 2 turning 3) along with the occasional potty accidents, yet Dr. Riverson was patient, effective, and handled my son with care. Due to her experience working with children she had a plethora of strategies that allowed her to assess my son's reading level for future subsequent sessions. Strategies she used included sounding letters, allowing my son to choose books to help him with his comprehension skills, elongating sounds to form words, utilizing index cards and books that helped his reading, Additionally each session was about 45 minutes long and the price was very reasonable. During my time watching Dr. Riverson she recommended videos, workbooks, and reading material that I still use with my son to this day. Dr. Riverson is an experienced educator who has made a significant difference in my son's educational matriculation.

Personally , I can proudly portray Dr. Riverson as the most gifted tutor or teacher I have ever encountered. Her teaching skills is phenomenon ! She had been tutoring my kids since 2010 ( math and English) . Dr. Roberson is very humble but extremely deligent and professional. Treat kids with respect and care regardless of age , race , gender and religion . She loves to see kids flourishing academically,
Esther’s love for the children is her number one best quality. You can see it in the way she interacts with them and also in the way the children respond to her. Children often come to her needing help with reading and/or math, and when parents choose to dedicate time to her tutelage, they see tremendous progress. Just the other day, I watched my 3-year old nephew read 50 full sentences! I was highly impressed. My own son just turned one, and there is no question who I will be sending him to as he begins his reading journey!
Esther is patient and caring. She has years of experience teaching and always does her best to meet the needs of each individual student. She is thorough in her lesson planning and instruction. She is a phenomenal teacher.
