About Jon
I am Chicano/Latino Chemistry student with a history of tutoring at my higher institution. As an undergraduate attending San Francisco State Univeristy, I feel that my younger age allows me to better connect with my students. I am motivated, kind, encouraging, and have an advanced understanding of many chemistry concepts. When I attended highschool, I had the opportunity to take a number of AP exams and classes, including an AP Chemistry class and exam. Therefore, I am familiar with the pacing and course workload expected of an AP Chemistry student.
Currently I am working to complete my B.S. in Chemistry and expect to be done by Spring 2022. At my university, I have worked closely with our tutoring/mentoring services to help teach my fellow peers in auxiliary classes designed to assist struggling students. I am the receipient of a number of scholarships, including the exclusive SF Build scholarship, where I was selected along with 12 of my other peers to take part in a professional development program preparing us for a graduate degree.
I am passionate about student success and chemistry. I think it is particularly important to empower members of my community so that they too can go on to enrich their lives with the knowledge and skills they'll gain from learning chemical science. I prefer to teach in an online format, but I am also fully vaccinated and capable of driving out towards my students.
Other subjects I am familiar with include Calculus 1 & 2, as well as Algebra 1 & 2 and Pre-Calculus.
