About Gareth
Growing up in Hong Kong, I am no stranger to tutoring sessions, and I understand the frustration and uneasiness of having a stranger teaching you things you do not understand. So I aim to be not only a tutor but a friend children can trust and open up to. Because I believe it is essential to build a trusting relationship when it comes to education. With trust, my words will appeal to be more convincing and comprehensive so that children will listen to me attentively and willingly. I am energetic, enthusiastic, a fast learner, and a team player. But, more importantly, I am very friendly and patient toward children. I know when to give children space and time to think whenever they are frustrated and how to comfort and console them with words of encouragement and a positive attitude. In addition, I understand how to motivate students to learn by creating games that stimulate thoughts and reward them with treats because I believe in positive reinforcement, not punishment.

Gareth worked on improving my son’s close reading. My son tells me that it makes a lot more sense now. He both helped with homework assignments as well as came up with his own program reviewing the novel 1984.
Garreth is reliable and works very well with kids. He is patient and knows just how hard to push. My son’s math has improved with his help.
