About Sanaa
I am the eldest sister of four children, a volunteer tutor for 3+ years, and an instructor working at Mathnasium. Over the years, I have found the best strategies to engage elementary and middle schoolers. I greatly enjoy helping young students feel confident and inspiring their love for math. I am committed to the students I tutor and prioritize their mental health, as I want them to build a healthy relationship with math.

As the eldest sister of four and a math tutor for 3+ years, I have had a lot of experience dealing with elementary and middle school aged children. Over the years, I have been able to perfect the teaching strategies I find that engage students of this age range. One strategy I find extremely effective is practice, practice, practice! When I give students practice problems, I first demonstrate a couple of problems to show them how to use the specific skill. I then use a Socratic questioning technique, where the student and I complete the problem together. Gradually, they will grasp the concept and be able to complete practice problems themselves, and I will encourage them to act as the teacher and explain the steps of completing the problem to me. I also consistently include breaks in each session, as I understand students of this age can get frustrated and distracted easily. During these short breaks, we might talk about the student’s day, read a book together, or do another short educational activity.

Sanaa is a very patient teacher who explains topics in an organized and informal manner that makes it easy for students to learn. She promotes an interactive teaching environment and welcomes questions from students. I highly recommend her as a tutor.
Sanaa is a great tutor and mentor because of her ability to understand what type of teaching works best for each student and adapt her strategies accordingly. She seems to have endless patience and is very interactive and playful in her approach. We have three boys and it’s always so fun to see how she keeps each of them motivated and excited about math.
