Super tutor

Will is one of our best Maths tutors. High-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Will

I'm Will McCreery, and my approach to tutoring is built on a foundation of proven academic success and real-world professional experience.

I graduated from Oxford University in 2021 with an integrated Masters' degree in Earth Sciences (MEarthSci). I placed top 3 in my year, won an academic scholarship, and received awards for top performance in advanced Mathematics and Physics. For over 5 years, I have channeled my academic triumphs into helping ambitious students win top grades.

Beyond academia, my career as a Senior technology professional has sharpened my ability to break complex, high-stakes problems down into strategic solutions. I integrate this systematic thinking into every session, teaching students how to approach difficult challenges, not just what the answer is.

Though I am relatively new to Superprof, these testimonials come from other platforms and my own business:

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "The best Maths tutor my son has had."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "Will’s ability to communicate and make solutions easier to understand is outstanding."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "Will brought my son's confidence back and filled a huge gap that school missed."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "Will is the best Maths tutor my daughter has ever had - and she's had private lessons her whole life."

About the lesson

What I offer:
Mathematics and Further Mathematics tuition (GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB, IB MYP)
Physics tuition (GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB, IB MYP)
University Personal Statement guidance and review (all subjects)
University Admissions Test preparation (MAT, PAT; others available upon request)
Oxbridge Interview preparation and mock interviews

My sessions are meticulously tailored to the individual. I aim to build genuine understanding, rather than rote memorisation. My approach is inspired by my time at Oxford: I apply a practice-oriented Socratic method. We will work through problems together, using deep questioning to develop the critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills necessary to master Maths, Physics, and your university applications.

Sessions typically last 60 minutes, with extended sessions available upon request. My sessions are delivered online via Google Meet, but I can be flexible around your video conferencing preferences.

Every session is followed up with a detailed report, which includes what we covered, student performance, and next steps. These reports form part of a larger learning roadmap.

Perfect! Will is excellent in all respects, including lesson preparation, execution of each session and post lesson feedback. He's a pleasure to work with, a first class communicator and not surprisingly therefore, my son has benefited enormously in a relatively short period of time.

Perfect! Will explained things really clearly, and went through past papers in a way I could understand.

We focused in particular on algebra, which I struggle with. He was very patient and friendly, and always encourages me to think out loud.

Will's response
This was a great introductory session with Georgia. She was engaged, open about how she feels about her maths progress, and I sense that she is very capable.

We began with a broad set of past paper questions, which she handled deftly. I will send a full lesson report separately.

My son really struggled with maths at secondary school and became disengaged. When he started with Will he found someone who was patient and worked with him to understand how best to help him, so maths became more effective and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend Will as a tutor

Will has tutored daughter.
This is what my daughter said about him and I agree.
