About Phoebe

Hi! I’m Phoebe, a BSc Biochemistry and Genetics student at the University of Cape Town, with a passion for learning and helping others succeed. Having achieved four distinctions in matric and maintained an academic average above 80%, I understand the hard work that goes into studying and how frustrating it can feel when something just doesn’t click.

As a private tutor, I offer personalised support in Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences to high school learners in Grades 8–12. I know that every student learns differently, so I focus on explaining concepts clearly, working through questions step by step and helping students build confidence in their abilities. Seeing my students improve motivates me, and I’ve watched my Mathematics student progress from a Code 2 to a Code 6!

I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace. My goal is not just to help you improve your marks, but to help you understand your work and feel more confident going into tests and exams.

About the lesson

Ever feel stuck on a question, no matter how many times you try? I understand how frustrating that can be! Sometimes, all you need is someone to explain things a little differently. I offer friendly and supportive tutoring in Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences for high school students in Grades 8–12.

My lessons are personalised to your needs and learning pace, whether you need help understanding difficult concepts, practising questions, completing homework or preparing for tests and exams.

We’ll work through challenging topics step by step, and you’ll always feel comfortable asking questions. I believe mistakes are part of learning, and my goal is to help you build confidence, strengthen your understanding and feel more prepared for your exams.

Lessons are conducted in English, with a patient and encouraging approach that makes learning less stressful and more enjoyable. Let’s tackle those tricky topics together and make Maths and Science a little less scary, one lesson at a time!

I was really struggling with matric maths and desperately needed a tutor to help me bring my 48 up to something higher. Phoebe was exactly what I needed. She's patient, explains things in a way that actually makes sense, and never made me feel bad for asking questions, even when I needed something explained more than once. She focused on the topics I was battling with and gave me practice that built my confidence. I went from a 48 to a 68, which made a huge difference for me. I'd recommend Phoebe to any matric student who needs real help and a tutor who genuinely cares about their progress.

I got her number from one of the moms at my church and I honestly couldn’t recommend her enough! ️ She helped me improve my Life Sciences mark from 42% to an amazing 70%, something I genuinely didn’t think was possible at first. She’s incredibly patient, explains things in a way that actually makes sense, and really puts in the effort to make sure you understand the work. My improvement speaks for itself, and I’m so grateful for her help! If you’re struggling with Life Sciences or just want to boost your marks, I would 100% recommend her. You won’t regret it! 🥹️
