About Jazmine
Math can be daunting and confusing for many kids, but it has always been a subject that came easy to me. It’s also one of my favorite subjects to teach. I hope to make the subject more fun and less scary for my students. I have been tutoring kids since I was a high school student (over 10 years) and I was also a preschool teacher for about a year. I have about 5 years of experience tutoring elementary math, as well as some experience with pre-algebra. I have also worked with a few students with special needs. I love teaching and believe everyone should have access to quality education. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Theatre and Speech and have taken multiple courses in child development and education.

Often students’ learning is hindered by the fact that they are uninterested in the subject they are being taught and teachers aren’t always able to cater to every child’s individual needs. I firmly believe learning should be fun, so I strive to make my lessons engaging by incorporating activities like games, fun videos, and my students’ interests! I work with students (and their parents) to provide lessons that are both engaging and meet their educational goals while also providing a safe space for a student to be themselves.
I offer elementary math lessons (grades K-6) as well as pre-algebra & algebra 1 lessons to students in grades 6-8. If you’re looking for fun and engaging math lessons, I am your go-to tutor!

Details
I offer a free 30 minute introductory lesson/consultation to discuss students’ learning needs, goals, and interests to help determine if I am the best fit for them and to help guide my future lessons should they choose to proceed with my services. Additionally, I do not charge a cancellation fee.
For all lessons I use free or low-cost resources from a variety of sources such as local libraries, teachers pay teachers, and Khan Academy at no additional cost to students/parents. For in-person lessons, I also provide physical copies of worksheets, writing materials (pens, pencils, blank paper), basic art supplies (construction paper, colored pencils, crayons, markers) at no additional cost to students. Students may also bring their own supplies if they wish.
