About Tala
I recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a First Class MEng degree in Architectural Engineering, achieving top grades in my course. My studies focused heavily on mathematics, physics, and structural engineering, giving me strong expertise in analytical problem solving and applied mathematics.
Having also received a full 45 IB mark in high school, I'm highly equipped to tutor students towards achieving top marks especially in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (SL and HL).
I have received several academic awards, including the Nicholas Ratcliffe Prize for Civil and Structural Engineering Mechanics and the Institution of Structural Engineers Student Prize, recognizing my performance in engineering mechanics and structural analysis.
I enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects they find challenging and supporting them in achieving strong results in math and physics.

My teaching approach focuses on clear explanations, structured problem solving, and building strong conceptual understanding. I believe foundational understanding of mathematics is key to understanding more complex problems across all topics.
Lessons typically involve:
Breaking down difficult concepts into simple, intuitive explanations
Working through problems step-by-step together
Practicing exam-style questions to build confidence and technique
I tailor lessons to each student’s needs, whether they want to strengthen fundamentals, improve exam performance, or aim for top grades. My IB and engineering background also allows me to show how mathematical and physical concepts apply to real-world problems.
