About Shauntay

I have one year of experience in the general education classroom. I believe it's important for students to feel confident and comfortable in their learning. I think this begins with the teacher. I portray the attitude, confidence, and self-esteem I want my learners to have. After all, students are always watching, and the adults they watch and learn from greatly influence what they believe is possible to learn.

About the lesson

I employ an inquiry-based teaching strategy in lessons to encourage learners to be the drivers of their education. I do this through virtual games, manipulatives, and stories. These lessons are for elementary-aged students.

A typical lesson plan begins with a quick 2-3 minute review of the previous lesson. Then, we explore the next math concept your child is ready to learn. After exploring, I directly instruct different strategies to understand the concept we're exploring. We continue learning the concept through the strategy that makes the most sense to the learner. Near the end of each lesson, I provide an exit ticket to inform me of the progress we made during the lesson. The exit ticket provides data to influence future lessons.

I have been a teacher's aide for 4 years and I have been helping out with Shauntay's classroom for a couple years now. She is an amazing young teacher. She has a wonderful set of skills on how to effectively keep them on track with their day to day activities. She is amazing to watch and the kids love her. She is patient and very kind with the children. She also is most trusting. Anyone hiring her would be lucky to have her on their team. She is one of the best teachers out there.
