About Sérgio
I am originally from Portugal and I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. Plus, I started teaching 18 years ago. For the first 4 years of learning guitar, I played classical guitar but then I transitioned to rock. With time, I started learning different styles such as bossa-nova, pop, jazz, flamenco and heavy metal. My own unique style is a combination of what I learned from these different styles of music. This has allowed me to compose my own original music for which I write lyrics too. Over the years, I had numerous bands. From small acoustic duos to 5-elements rock bands.

So you want to learn bossa nova but it seems way too complicated. The rhythm is confusing, there are plenty of chords that you don't know what they mean or how to play them and on top of that, you're struggling to get the feel. You came to the right place! Just like you, I've been lost in the world of bossa nova before. That's why now I focus on teaching it on guitar. It doesn't need to be as complicated as it seems. I'm going to show you: 1. How to understand what the chords mean and how to play them on guitar, so you can flip through any bossa nova songbook and play the songs right away. 2. How to understand and play bossa nova rhythm, so you can play the basics and then add flavour with your own variations. 3. How to get into the feel of bossa-nova, so you actually sound like a true musician and enjoy what you're playing. My lessons are personalised to your own challenges and current abilities.
