About Debbie
I am an interactive Middle School Science Teacher with over four years of dedicated experience in a similar role at PACE Academy. I am confident in contributing effectively to your team and enhancing students' learning experiences. I was awarded the 2004 STEM Educator of the Year award. My ability to create lessons and support students with dyslexia and other disabilities that impact their reading. I honed my Instructional and Curriculum Design skills to integrate technology effectively into the classroom and lead STEM Education initiatives. In my classroom, I don't lecture. I ensure the student has as many multi-dimensional ways to learn the way they learn. Furthermore, my strong background in Mathematics and Physical Sciences from Wells College has been instrumental in developing engaging and informative science curricula. I am well-versed in various educational tools and techniques, including Orton Gillingham and Software Training. My strengths in Educational Leadership, Team Collaboration, and Problem-Solving have enabled me to significantly improve the performance and motivation of my students and colleagues alike. Further, this summer, I was the only South Carolina teacher invited to NASA (Houston) to work on their disability programs in STEM education to create a Free and Appropriate Education for all students. My teaching experience is complemented by my ability to manage projects, analyze data, and try to make 'boring' subjects. Furthermore, my strong background in Mathematics and Physical Sciences from Wells College has been instrumental in developing engaging and informative science and math curricula. I am well-versed in various educational tools and techniques, including Orton Gillingham, and being a Certified American Meteorology Teacher helps. My strengths in Educational Leadership, Team Collaboration, and Problem-Solving have enabled me to improve my teaching abilities significantly. Further, with all of my accolades and research on Dyslexia, this summer, I was invited to NASA to work with a group of educators to improve our knowledge of ways teachers can integrate innovative and interactive activities for all disabilities in the area of STEM. PS. I have a service dog, Apollo, and a service dog in Training, Sir Artemis Creed. So, from time to time, they will be watching you. Also, we can set up an independent reading time with the dogs as the 'people' to hear the story. (this would be for a 1/2 hour and only $10)

You will never be bored in my class. Even though we communicate via computer, you will still do experiments and projects in Mathematics and the Sciences. I use as many interactive activities as possible that provide a multisensory approach. This summer, I learned new methodologies while working with NASA. Further, I am a certified American Meteorology Teacher. I am an expert in Oceanic and Atmospheric (weather) topics. My lessons are structured and tailored to students in Middle and High School. A typical lesson is designed as such. Warm Up/usually a question/quizzes or Blooket to assist me in determining if there is a difference between prior knowledge and current content. (5 - 10 minutes) Review Topic (5 - 15 minutes) Build on Topics learned or Start a new topic (5 - 10 minutes); this is the area where we will do labs or hands-on activities) Lesson (10 - 15 minutes) Exit ticket (5 Minutes)

My experiences, degrees, subject matter expertise, and being an Orton Gillingham instructor support the quantity. Also, I would need to know the direction/topic to teach. This means I need to see the students' books so I can prepare each lesson properly. When we do labs, we use household items. I will contact you to gather the materials. Further, if you would like, I can do reading classes with you for $10; it would be for a half hour, having you read to my service dogs.
