About Ross
Hi, I’m Ross — a 23-year-old Mechanical Engineering graduate with a Master’s degree and a passion for teaching. A little about me: I enjoy reading, playing basketball, watching movies, playing chess, traveling, and of course, teaching. My journey as a tutor began two years ago when I started helping my younger sister with math. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed it, and soon began tutoring my cousins and other secondary school students in my local area. Since then, I’ve continued to tutor almost every weekend alongside my studies. Over time, I’ve helped my students gain confidence, significantly improve their results, and in many cases, go on to excel in subjects they once struggled with. My teaching style is relaxed and student-focused. I create a comfortable environment where students feel free to ask questions and learn at their own pace. I firmly believe that every student learns differently — whether through visual aids like diagrams, through problem-solving together, or by discussing the ideas and history behind math and physics. My goal is to find the method that works best for each student, and to help them build confidence through understanding.

About me: As a Master's Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, I have an extremely strong command of both mathematics and physics. I have tutored these subjects to my extended family and other local clients for 2 years, and I am looking to broaden my experience in the area. Lesson length and level: I would advise that lessons are 1 hour, but can be shorter if needed. I tutor 2nd-level subject material (ages 13-18). Teaching Method: I use a number of different methods to teach math and physics, depending on what is required from the student. These methods involve discussion of the questions and why each action is done, as I believe this is the best method to fully understand the material. - Chapter introductions: Explain the background and history of the chapter (why it's important, how it's used today, etc.). This is then followed by explaining the general concepts of the chapter and simple questions to ensure understanding of the topic, followed by more difficult questions. - Question Review: Students can send me questions/topics they have trouble with in advance of the sessions. We will then go through the questions and ensure total understanding of the material. - Exam preparation: Go through exam papers and devise strategies for doing exams. Figure out strong and weak areas of the student and prepare accordingly.
