- Without proper faciliation, students enrolled in high risk modules are likely to repeat them. Tutoring and telling my story (how I passed maths) gives hope and encouragement that it can be done.

- Peer collaborative learning where tutor involves student in the problem solving methodology
- Student is given clear directives as to how to prepare for tests and examinations
- 10 minute test covering the day's work session is written immediately after the session (usually a 10 mark exam question that is impossible to fail due to it consisting of precisely the same methods and techniques that are discussed in that tutorial session)
