About James
I am an engaging and inspiring tutor who loves taking difficult concepts and making them as simple and straightforward as possible.
I think that Maths and Physics are subject areas that give people the toolkits to engage well with the world. I think this is true whether or not a career in the sciences is directly pursued, and therefore I enjoy helping others to understand these topics.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Maths and Physics, a master's degree in Diamond Science (questions welcome) and a PhD in computational physics, all from the University of Warwick.

My motto for teaching is that: Maths is not a spectator sport. This means that you can expect simple, clear instruction with a strong focus on practical examples, doing real calculations, and learning the fundamental principles of maths and Physics.
I also have a belief that memory is a strong tool - not as an end in itself, but as a tool for making connections between ideas.
My lessons are either half an hour or one hour in length, upon request.
I have a degree in maths and physics, a master's in materials science and a PhD.
I am able to tutor any secondary level, though I have a particular strength in GCSE and A-level.
My aim is to build both practical skills and confidence.
