About Sofiane
I recently graduated from a degree in mechanical engineering with distinction and I am in the middle of my Master's in aerospace engineering. I also graduated from the IB program in high school. Passionate about rocket science, I am actively working on the largest student-built rocket in the world. Although most of my work experience is from engineering internships, in my first years, I had a great time tutoring Calculus I & II, Mechanics, and Electricity & Magnetism. One of my tutees went from 20% in her first quiz to a final grade of 92%! A last interesting fact about me - my native tongue is French although I am perfectly fluent in English.

My approach focuses on letting the student build confidence in his/her abilities and on thinking critically, without feeding him/her then answers automatically. Although theory must be understood, I am a strong believer in "learning by doing", so I spend most of the session on practice.
A typical lesson plan would consist of:
- Review of the last session
- Review of theory: ask the student what he understood, and what he did not
- Going through an example together
- Letting the student try to solve a problem on his own
- Summary of the session, and plan for the next
My portfolio stands out thanks to one year of experience in college-level tutoring in math and physics, and to academic excellence achieved through the completion of a degree in mechanical engineering with distinction.
My lessons are for middle school to college-level students. I specialize in math and physics, but I can also provide lessons in French as it is my native tongue.
