About Lucy
I have been tutoring a Gr.7 student for a bit more than a year now and he has seen a steady increase in his grades throughout the school year. Although I'm only going into Gr.11, my math grades have been 100% every year of high school so far. I've gotten a certificate for Honors with Distinction in the Waterloo Gauss, Pascal and Cayley contests for the past 4 years. My team and I got third overall in the OAME (Ontario Association of Mathematics Education) 2018 math contest.

I will base my teaching on the specific needs of the student and the area of math that they're struggling in or wish to learn more about. Depending on the number of sessions per week, I typically will take 70% of the time to explain concepts and answer questions that the student may have. At the start of each lesson, I will take some time to take up questions and at the end of the session, I will give the student some extra exercises catered to his/her needs. If the student has a specific learning style, I will also adjust my teaching accordingly to provide the best learning experience for him/her.

I strongly recommend Lucy as a mathematics tutor. In the nine years that I have known her, I have found that her dedication, passion for mathematics, and her intelligence make her an outstanding tutor. She has a thorough understanding of the concepts which she seeks to teach, which, paired with her patience and understanding, makes for a smooth learning experience.
I've seen some of Lucy's tutoring lessons with another student and while the student started off having a lot of problems, he gradually improved. She does a good job of explaining a concept in many different ways until the student understands. We go to the same school and I have also sometimes benefited from her tips now and then.
