About Oran
I am a PhD student carrying out research into how molecular structure influences a pharmaceutical molecule’s chances of forming a gel — which happens to be a major problem in developing new medicines. I use insights from organic / computational chemistry, applied maths, statistics and computing to generate data and gain insights in this area.
I tutor because I enjoy teaching Starting with extensive experience of English Teaching in China, and voluntary roles as a scout leader teaching outdoor skills, I love to teach and improve others understanding of difficult concepts. Often these are the most revealing windows into the world around us.
I hope to share these insights and help you find your way too.

For every student with a difficulty in the curriculum, there is a misunderstanding of the strategy or purpose of a concept which is holding them back. When I teach one-on-one, I start each lesson by helping my student find a way around that misunderstanding, before making the learning process as intuitive for them as possible, steadily introducing harder examples.
Depending on the student, I also relate this work to real world examples which would be of the most interest to them. Including bespoke examples in my lesson plans is the most rewarding part of the role.
As appropriate, I look to share good studying strategies with my students to equip them for the future. I work out a system of practice questions which can help the student achieve excellent marks in their exams. I look forward to discussing how I can be service.
