About Daria
I have a PhD in Mathematics and professional experience teaching mathematics at university level, as well as supporting students at foundation level. I am also an experienced private tutor and currently work with students studying Edexcel A-level Mathematics.
I am interested not only in mathematics itself, but also in how people learn mathematics. I enjoy working with both school-age students and adult learners, especially those who may have lost confidence, feel anxious about maths, or believe they are “not a maths person”. A large part of my teaching is helping students overcome maths anxiety, rebuild confidence, and develop practical learning strategies that make progress feel more manageable.
My background allows me to explain difficult ideas clearly, identify gaps in understanding, and help students develop real mathematical confidence rather than just memorising methods. I am particularly well suited to students who want to improve their problem-solving, strengthen their algebra, prepare for exams, or build confidence with more abstract topics.

My lessons are tailored to the student’s needs. I usually begin by identifying where the student is confident and where they are losing marks, then build a structured plan around those areas.
For A-level students, I can help with core pure mathematics, mechanics, statistics, exam technique, and interpreting unfamiliar questions. I currently tutor Edexcel A-level Maths, so I am familiar with the style and expectations of the course, while also bringing a broader mathematical perspective from university teaching.
For university or foundation-level students, I can support topics such as calculus, linear algebra, analysis, algebra, differential equations, probability, and general mathematical problem-solving.
My style is patient, precise, and focused on understanding. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, spot common mistakes, and become more independent in their work.
