About Mia
Hello! My name is Mia and I'm a recent graduate from a Bachelor of Science majoring in physics. Throughout my university career, I've had opportunities to apply my understanding of mathematics and physics to launch high-altitude sounding rockets in the deserts of New Mexico, work on optical test beds for Earth-observation satellites, simulate the evolution of dark matter in galaxies and investigate quantum properties of crystalline structures. I am a voracious reader and love creative writing in my spare time, submitting to literary magazines and journals as much as I can! In 2025, I am looking forward to starting my Masters of Mechanical Engineering. I absolutely love teaching and sharing my passion for science, math and English with students! I absolutely love to teach and I have over 7 years of experience tutoring students from ages 6 to 18 of a diverse range of abilities. I love tutoring math, physics and English specifically but can also tutor general science for years 10 and under. I believe that the key to effective learning is a personalized and hands-on approach. I love meeting students where they are at and developing lesson plans that cater to their academic and learning goals. My lessons generally go for an hour as this gives time to explore material together and complete a few practice examples/problems whilst ensuring the student maintains focus.
