My research project was on Teaching Mathematics through Stories and Social Activities. I found that students tend to understand concepts better when I connect it with something in daily life. I use illustrations. Using contrasting examples to illustrate concepts is another method that I use. To teach what a variable is I first teach what is not a variable.
