About Apefoo

I am a highly experienced tutor with over 12 years of teaching and mentoring across GCSE, A-Level, 11+, and adult learners, specialising in Maths, Science, and English. My background combines both classroom teaching and one-to-one support, including extensive work with students who have SEND and SEMH needs. This has equipped me with the patience, adaptability, and creativity required to make lessons engaging, accessible, and effective for learners of all abilities. Professionalism and reliability are at the heart of my work. I take the time to understand each student’s individual strengths and challenges, creating tailored lesson plans that are structured, clear, and results-driven. I believe in setting high standards while supporting students every step of the way—helping them build not only knowledge, but also confidence, focus, and resilience. My teaching ethos is rooted in discipline and steady progress, values I carry through all aspects of my work. Students can expect lessons that are well-prepared, engaging, and backed by proven teaching strategies. Parents can be reassured that I monitor progress closely, provide regular feedback, and remain fully committed to their child’s academic growth. Whether preparing for exams, overcoming learning barriers, or aiming to stretch beyond the syllabus, I equip students with the skills and mindset they need to achieve long-term success.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is built on personalisation, clarity, and confidence-building. I believe that every student has a unique way of learning, and I adapt my teaching methodology to match their needs—whether that means breaking down complex topics into manageable steps, using visuals and real-world examples, or providing structured practice with regular feedback. A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes, though I can extend or shorten sessions based on the student’s goals and concentration level. Each session follows a clear structure: a quick review of previous material, a focus on new concepts with guided examples, and independent practice to reinforce understanding. I also set optional homework tasks tailored to stretch ability without overwhelming. I have over 12 years of experience as a teacher and tutor, both in classroom and one-to-one settings, working across GCSE and A-Level Maths, Science, and English, as well as 11+ preparation. I am also highly experienced in supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs, ensuring lessons are inclusive, trauma-informed, and student-centred. My lessons are ideal for secondary school students (KS3–KS5) preparing for exams, those who need support catching up, or learners seeking to stretch beyond the syllabus. I also provide guidance for students who want to build resilience, study discipline, and long-term academic confidence—principles rooted in my broader Apefoo philosophy of discipline, strength, and steady progress. Above all, my mission is to help students not only achieve their grades but also master the skills and mindset that set them up for long-term success.
