About Megan
Hi! I'm Megan and I recently graduated with a First Class English degree from Cambridge University. I am a huge lover of all literature but my own personal interests include Shakespeare, 20th century American literature, contemporary fiction and film. I achieved 3 A*s and one A at A Level and 9 A*s and 3 As at GCSE and would love to help others reach their own potential. This year I gained a Distinction in the professional Tutoring Standards certificate.
During school I tutored KS3 and GCSE English and French, including students who struggled with dyslexia. I would love to tutor anyone at any stage of schooling who needs a helping hand studying English literature and/or language, French, German, and a number of other subjects to GCSE. When it comes to teaching, I find the the best way to help a student is to guide them to the answers gently through understanding instead of dictating or lecturing them, staying on problems or specific topics until they feel confident in their own ability to grasp a concept. I encourage independence in students, offering them the help they need to reach conclusions that they were already fully capable of, but just needed some support in getting to.
I love to hear and encourage a student's opinions, thoughts and responses to a particular subject or topic. Especially with literature, everyone has a different interpretation of what is set in front of them and I love seeing the way students differ from one another, while all giving perceptive and clever insights. It's so rewarding to see someone progress and achieve the potential they always had to begin with.
