About Judah

I graduated from Reed College, earning my degree in Mathematics and Physics while learning more about pedagogy. I am currently conducting research with my former thesis advisor after my year-long senior thesis project.

Over the past 6 years I have well over 2,500 hours of experience tutoring in math, helping students with everything from addition to Abstract Algebra and Topology. I began tutoring at Mathnasium when I was just a junior in high school and immediately fell in love with it. Ever since then I have been tutoring students and learning how to better cater to each student's learning style while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

I focus on building a genuine understanding of concepts and developing problem-solving skills rather than simply memorizing procedures. Whether you're looking to strengthen your foundations, prepare for an exam, or understand more advanced material, I can help you become a more confident learner and problem solver.

About the lesson

I honed my understanding and teaching craft at Reed College giving me a unique approach combining visual and argumentation/logic. I build conceptual understanding alongside problem solving skills so that students understand exactly what to do and why. A typical lesson starts with giving an origin story for the concepts that the student needs to learn. Mathematical tools are developed to solve problems, knowing the origins helps visualize these concepts and apply them to problems. Once some logical and visual tools have been developed I move on to developing problem solving skills with active engagement from my student(s) employing socratic questioning as needed. I tutor students in Elementary school math to AP courses such as AP Calculus and lower division college level courses such as Linear Algebra and Vector Calculus. I have experience tutoring students on addition all the way up to Abstract Algebra and Complex Analysis. The reason I started tutoring as a Junior in high school and never stopped is that I truly love doing it!
