About Austin
I am currently a Software Engineer at JP Morgan and a 2nd-year Software Engineering student, having attained a distinction in my first year. My dedication to learning has brought me academic achievements including 8 A’s at National 5, 5 A’s at Higher, and AB at Advanced Higher.
However, my journey has not been without its challenges. I understand what it’s like to struggle with concepts, to feel overwhelmed, and to experience the impact of inadequate teaching. It’s these experiences that fuel my desire to offer support and guidance to other learners, to help them navigate through their difficulties, and to find joy and understanding in the subjects they are studying.
Beyond academics and my professional life, music has been a companion, from playing the guitar in bands to the cello in classical orchestras. Though I once contemplated a musical career, the allure of computing science eventually took the forefront. Chess, another favourite pastime, allowed me the privilege of representing Scotland, further enriching my journey.
My diverse experiences and the challenges I’ve overcome inform my approach to teaching. I aim to connect with students on various levels, sharing not just knowledge but also the joys and fulfilment found in learning and exploration. Every tutoring session is an opportunity to inspire and be inspired, to share and learn, and to help others discover their potential.

I offer tutoring sessions that are flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate the student's schedule, ensuring that every learner gets the tailored support they need. I am available during the evenings and weekends for both remote and in-person sessions within Edinburgh or Glasgow. I bring to my lessons the experience of tutoring over 20 international chess players, providing guidance across all subject fields to younger students in my school, alongside offering lessons in guitar and cello. My aim is to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students from primary level up to the end of high school, regardless of their starting point. My approach is student-centric, prioritising individual needs and ensuring that learning is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I am committed to putting in the time and effort needed to ensure each student receives the support they require, guiding them to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for Computing Science and Mathematics.
