About Leah

Hi! I'm Leah, a 21-year-old Psychology graduate from Essex, and I've recently graduated from the University of Greenwich with a First-Class Honours degree in Psychology!

I've always been fascinated by people, particularly why we think, feel and behave the way we do. That's what originally drew me towards Psychology, and it's a subject that has continued to interest me throughout my studies.

Since graduating, I've been exploring where I'd like to take my Psychology degree next, whether that's pursuing a Master's degree or gaining further practical experience in the field. Alongside this, I currently work part-time at River Island, which suits me perfectly as I've always had a love for fashion!

Outside of work and studying, I'm a creative and curious person. I love vintage shopping, finding unique clothing pieces and putting outfits together. I also enjoy running, spending time in nature and taking my dog on long walks. I'm a huge foodie too, especially when it comes to seafood!

One of my biggest ambitions is to travel and experience different cultures. Having spent a month volunteering in Fiji, I developed an even greater appreciation for meeting people from different backgrounds, hearing their stories and seeing the world from different perspectives. It's an experience that has stayed with me and inspired me to travel more in the future.

I've also been working since I was 16, gaining experience across hospitality, retail, volunteering and education. These experiences have taught me the importance of responsibility, patience, communication and adapting to different people's personalities and needs.

So, why do I want to tutor?

One of the most valuable things I've learnt throughout my education is that understanding a subject and knowing how to learn it are two very different things.

When I was younger, I sometimes struggled to find revision methods that genuinely worked for me. I spent a lot of time trying different techniques, figuring out how to organise information and discovering what actually helped things stay in my memory.

It took time, patience and plenty of trial and error, but eventually I found approaches that worked for me and helped me achieve a First-Class Honours degree.

Looking back, I wish I'd had someone to help me discover those techniques earlier, rather than having to work everything out for myself.

That's exactly what I hope to offer my students.

I don't believe there's one perfect way to learn. Some students benefit from visual explanations, others prefer discussion, practice questions, repetition or breaking information into smaller steps. What works brilliantly for one person might not work for another.

Now that I've experienced that process myself, I'd love to help students explore different learning techniques, discover what makes information click for them and develop the confidence to approach difficult topics independently.

I want to take the time to understand each student's personality, strengths and challenges, rather than expecting everyone to learn in exactly the same way.

Ultimately, I want to offer the kind of support I wish I'd had when I was younger: someone patient, encouraging and genuinely interested in helping me find my own way of learning.

I would describe myself as friendly, down-to-earth and easy to talk to, but also organised, dependable and committed to doing things properly. I take my responsibilities seriously, and I want both students and parents to feel confident that every lesson will be thoughtfully prepared and tailored to the student's needs.

My hope is that students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and discovering what they're capable of, while parents know their child's education is being taken seriously.

I'm really looking forward to meeting new students and helping them build not only their Psychology knowledge, but also the confidence and study skills they can carry into the future!

Psychology doesn't have to feel overwhelming — sometimes, all it takes is someone explaining it in a way that finally makes sense!

As someone who went from finding aspects of A-Level Psychology challenging to graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Psychology, I understand how frustrating it can feel when you're trying your best but certain topics just aren't clicking.

That's why my approach to tutoring is centred around patience, encouragement, creativity and building genuine confidence, rather than simply memorising information for an exam.

I offer friendly, personalised one-to-one online GCSE and A-Level Psychology lessons, designed around each student's individual learning style, strengths and areas for improvement.

What makes my approach different?

Introducing Psychology around the world — my volunteering experience in Fiji

In 2025, I spent a month volunteering in a rural Fijian community, helping deliver mental health and wellbeing education to groups of over 30 young adults.

Our workshops explored important psychological and emotional wellbeing topics, encouraging participants to develop a better understanding of mental health, recognise their personal strengths and feel more confident discussing sensitive subjects.

Rather than relying on lectures, we used interactive activities, group discussions, role-play, creative exercises and written reflection to make sessions engaging and accessible.

One of my proudest achievements was leading a Self-Advocacy Day, where participants created posters exploring their strengths and personal goals before presenting them to family and community members.

Seeing participants grow in confidence and become more comfortable expressing themselves reinforced something I strongly believe: people learn best when they feel understood, involved and encouraged.

I aim to bring that same creativity and encouragement into my tutoring sessions.

Experience supporting children with additional learning needs:

I have also worked as a teaching assistant at Bures VC Primary School, supporting pupils with a range of developmental, behavioural and social-emotional needs, including autism, ADHD and difficulties with emotional regulation.

This taught me how important it is to adapt explanations, recognise when someone needs a different approach and create an environment where pupils feel comfortable asking for help.

One particularly rewarding experience involved developing an individualised, interest-based approach for a Year 3 pupil who was struggling with classroom engagement. By taking time to understand their interests and needs, I helped improve their participation and confidence.

I welcome enquiries from students with additional learning needs and will do my best to adapt my tutoring approach to suit them.

What will my Psychology lessons involve?

Every student is different, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Depending on what you need, our lessons can include:

- Making difficult topics click: Breaking down psychological theories, studies and terminology into manageable explanations with relatable, real-life examples.

- Exam confidence: Practising GCSE and A-Level exam questions, essay structures, evaluation skills and understanding what mark schemes are looking for.

- Research methods made simpler: Working through concepts step by step, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

- Interactive learning: Using discussions, mini-quizzes, visual explanations, activities and active recall rather than simply reading through notes.

- Personalised revision: Finding revision techniques that suit your learning style, whether that's visual resources, structured notes, practice questions or breaking topics into smaller sections.

- A calm, encouraging atmosphere: Taking things at your own pace, celebrating progress and making sure you never feel embarrassed about asking for something to be explained again.

Who are my lessons for?

I offer online support for GCSE and A-Level Psychology students, including those who:

- Feel overwhelmed or have fallen behind in class.
- Understand the content but struggle to apply it in exams.
- Want to improve their grades or prepare for upcoming assessments.
- Lack confidence in their academic abilities.
- Benefit from additional structure, patience or an adapted learning approach.

Lesson length: Typically 60 minutes, with flexibility to include short breaks or adapt the pace where helpful.

My qualifications and experience:
- First-Class BSc (Hons) Psychology — University of Greenwich
- A-Level Psychology
- Previous teaching assistant experience supporting children with additional needs
- One-month mental health and wellbeing volunteering placement in Fiji, delivering interactive workshops and group activities

Most importantly, I want students to leave their lessons feeling more capable than when they arrived.

I know what it's like to find Psychology difficult, and I also know how rewarding it feels when something finally makes sense.

Whether your goal is to improve your grades, feel more prepared for exams or simply stop dreading a subject you're struggling with, I'd love to help you get there.

Let's make Psychology something you feel confident about, one lesson at a time!
