About Rubba
I genuinely love teaching. Not as a platitude, but in the practical sense that I find real satisfaction in the connections I build with students, in watching understanding develop over time, and in the fact that explaining something a new way to a struggling student often teaches me something too. That last part has never stopped being true, regardless of the age of the student.
My approach is built on the belief that most learning problems are really teaching problems in disguise. Over six years I have developed a way of working that prioritizes conceptual depth, smart study habits, and revision strategies that hold up under exam pressure, and I tailor all of it to the individual because a method that works brilliantly for one person can be completely useless for another.
When I am not tutoring, I read a lot of fiction, write essays for pleasure, dance, and learn new areas of mathematics out of pure curiosity. I mention this not to perform well-roundedness, but because I think it is relevant that the person teaching your child to think carefully about hard problems actually enjoys thinking carefully about hard problems.

Most students who struggle with Math or Science are not bad at it. The content was simply never taught to them properly.
I work with each student individually to identify precisely where the conceptual gap is and build from there. The goal is actual understanding developed systematically, where results become a natural outcome rather than something to chase.
Sessions are also structured around working smart. Proper notes, deliberate revision strategy, and a study framework built around how a student specifically thinks, because effort matters, but misdirected effort is just inefficiency.
My HSC students have achieved Band 6 in Math. I hold a 4A* CIE result equivalent to a 99.95 ATAR, and I am currently studying at the University of Sydney. I know what rigorous mastery looks like. I also know the path there is different for every student, which is why I don't teach everyone the same way.
