About Dana
I am a student at Cornell University majoring in Cognitive Science and Business, with a strong academic background in mathematics, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving. I have completed AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Multivariable Calculus, which has given me extensive experience with both computational and concept-based mathematics.
As a tutor, I prioritize professionalism, patience, and adaptability. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to the student’s goals, pace, and level of understanding. My objective is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence and independence when approaching difficult mathematical problems.

I take a highly personalized and concept-driven approach to tutoring mathematics. Rather than focusing on memorization, I help students build a deep understanding of why mathematical ideas work, so they can confidently apply them to unfamiliar and challenging problems. My teaching combines clear conceptual explanations, guided problem-solving, and active student participation.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing current topics or difficult homework problems, followed by a focused explanation of the underlying concepts and step-by-step walkthroughs of representative examples. I then work through practice problems together with the student, helping them develop efficient strategies.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my firsthand experience with the rigor of Cornell mathematics and STEM courses. I understand the pace, expectations, and common challenges students encounter in college-level math classes, and I focus on making difficult concepts approachable without oversimplifying them.
