About Cyrus
I enjoy figuring things out and helping others do the same. Having worked with 24 students before under UWaterloo’s internal tutoring service, the best part was seeing students become more confident and comfortable with material that once felt difficult.
I believe tutoring should be tailored to the individual. When teaching is standardized, it often fails to match how students learn best, leaving them behind. My goal is to adapt explanations to each student’s background, interests, and way of thinking.
With the right approach, complex topics become much more accessible. For example, I once taught my younger brother, an 18-year-old art student, to solve differential equations using series expansions!
Whether you need help catching up, preparing for exams, or strengthening fundamentals, I would be happy to help you succeed!

I am happy to cater to your needs and learning style, whether you prefer learning by doing or more traditional lecture-style sessions. Usually, we begin with a review of the content before moving on to practice problems, where I could guide you to arrive at the answer yourself.
I take steps to ensure the quality of our sessions, preparing before each session, sending notes afterward, and asking for feedback frequently.
I have taken the following undergrad courses and am happy to tutor similar subjects as well! (Level: Undergrad or high school)
Math: calculus, linear algebra, statistics, differential equations, pure math (real/complex analysis, abstract algebra, differential geometry)
Physics: classical/continuum/statistical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, general relativity, quantum computing, programming and machine learning for science, quantum field theory
I also scored 5s in AP Physics C (Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism) and Calculus BC in 2017.

Cyrus is an amazing tutor and he adapts to whatever learning style you want to do. He is flexible with his times whether you want to meet him in person or virtual. He also writes his own set of notes and sends them to you after your session with him. He works on problems to provide you the best solution outside of your tutoring hours and is always ready to respond to an email.
Very competent tutor that does an effective job at taking complex math topics and teaching them in a way that is easy to understand for someone who is struggling with the topic. Also provides great notes after each session that help with recalling what was learned in the session.
Cyrus tutored me for a statistics course. Whenever I was struggling with a concept, Cyrus helped me understand the material with his thorough yet simplified explanations. He even went above and beyond by providing me with summary sheets of the content we went over in our sessions. With his help, I felt really confident in my skills leading up to my midterms and the final!
I found Cyrus on Waterloo's TutorConnect platform and quickly sent him an email asking for tutoring services with my second-year math courses. I was in a crunch for final exams, which were 2 weeks away, and he quickly scheduled daily tutoring sessions with me, often 3 hours long. We covered probability, linear algebra, and calc 3. During and after sessions, Cyrus asked for feedback, adapted his teaching methods accordingly, and even took the initative to type up notes in LaTeX for me. Overall, Cyrus is super competent and I'm amazed at how much math (both pure and applied) that he knows. He's super available and easier to schedule sessions with than any of the other tutors I've worked with. The fact that he was willing to do daily 3 hour sessions with me 2 weeks before exams still astonishes me - I've never met any other tutor who would invest the time and effort to do that.
