About James
Until the COVID-19 epidemic, I was a high school teacher for seventeen years, both in math and music. I have Master's degrees in both. I've taught summer workshop courses and helped adult dropouts prepare for the GED and overcome remedial college coursework.

I enjoy figuring out where a student is in math. If they are struggling, it's often because of some past skill not mastered. I enjoy helping diagnose and address that, THEN try to fill in remaining gaps.
Also, I love answering "Why does it work this way?" questions. Many times, we rush to get work done, and think of math as magic only a few wizards can do. I believe people who knows why math works are bettervsuited to learn math faster and better.
